This study analyzed spatiotemporal variability in domestic PM10 data from 2001 to 2019. From annual numbers of stations between 175 and 484, the point data at each station were spatially interpolated using the inverse distance weighted method. A periodic variability in daily mean data was examined through wavelet analysis, which showed that there was a clear annual pattern with the periodic change following a regular cycle. The Mann-Kendall Test for monthly and annual mean data showed a decreasing trend in about 1 µg/m3 per year. The spatial change in the grid data for annual mean data represented that it was relatively higher in the northern regions than that in the southern regions and its mean and deviation decreased significantly over time. For the entire period of observation data, it was found that annual mean and standard deviation of PM10 concentrations were relatively high in the region near the metropolitan area.

Pohang is a well-known industrial city in Korea with a large steel-industrial complexes. The biggest environmental issue in the city is associated with fine particulate matter (hereinafter, PM 10 ). The concentration of PM 10 is generally dependent on the local emission sources and meteorological conditions. Iron and steel industrial complexes are likely serious pollution sources of PM 10 in Pohang. In this study, daily PM 10 data from a large database from the year of 2000 to 2012 were statistically analyzed, together with meteorological data. The average concentrations of PM 10 were evaluated according to the frequency of Asian dust, haze, mist, and fog. The number of days exceeding short-term standard for PM 10 were also examined, taking into consideration of weather conditions. It was found that the concentration of PM 10 was reduced about 18% to 26% because of precipitation. In addition, the effects of wind direction and wind speed on the PM 10 concentrations were investigated.

In this study the urban atmospheric environment map in Busan was made and it consist of the atmospheric environment element map and the atmospheric environment analysis map. The atmospheric environment element map covered the topography, the urban climate, the air pollutant emission, ozone and PM10 concentrations in Busan and the atmospheric environment analysis map included the thermal environment and the wind flow by using WRF meteorological numerical simulation. The meteorological elements from 2007 to 2011 in Busan were used in this study. As a result, in the center of Busan and Buk-gu along to the Nakdong river was the temperature high. To analyze the air flow of Busan 3 clusters depending on the wind direction were extracted with the cluster analysis. The results of the analysis on the detailed wind field of each cluster showed that the weak ventilation could be happened locally at the specific meteorological condition.
