The analysis of heating process of catalytic converter using thermo-vision

Abstract: The article tackles the issues related to a process of heating of three way catalytic converter during the cold start and the heating of the spark ignition engine. The measurements on the test bench were performed, taking into consideration how engine works directly after the start, on the idle speed and under the load, during which the temperature of the exhaust gases in the exhaust system and coolant on the cylinder head were measured. At the same time the track of the heat state of the catalytic converter w… Show more

“…Detectors that are built into cameras as measurement transducers determine their further division. It should be noted that bolometric cameras are most often used due to the widest range of recorded infrared wavelengths [6,18]. These types of cameras are used in construction, the power industry or testing machines, and internal combustion engines, as presented in [16,19].…”

“…The use of thermography to diagnose the welding process and to estimate the quality of these connections have also been mentioned [10,11]. Secondly, thermography is used in the widely understood diagnostics of machines and their components, such as CNC machine tools [12], through mechanical spreaders [13], rotating machines [14], belt conveyors [15], internal combustion engines (catalytic reactors) [16,17], bearings (temperature measurement of moving rolling elements, and one must keep in mind that baskets in bearings may be measured only with contactless methods) and bearing nodes [18,19], brakes [20], as well as electrical devices and machines [21][22][23].…”
