“…Although an impaired glucose regulation was observed in the DHEA group, the body weight was also decreased unexpectedly in our study. According to existing research, some studies indicated that DHEA can increase the body weight, while other studies showed that the DHEA group could have a tendency to lose weight as well ( 33 , 34 ). We speculated that it may be related to the following aspects: 1) a low dose of DHEA could prevent the development of obesity ( 35 37 ); 2) DHEA can reduce the food intake of rodents ( 38 ); 3) experimental procedures such as injection therapy or vaginal smears invisibly increase the amount of exercise.…”

“…Shifting the focus towards a potential herbal treatment method, in a randomized control study by Rababa'h et al, the effects of the marjoram plant on the hormonal effects of PCOS was studied [30]. There were five randomly assigned groups, which included a control group, a dehydroepiandrosterone induced-PCOS model group, a marjoram-treated PCOS group, a metformin-treated PCOS group and a PCOS group treated with a combination of marjoram and metformin [30]. It was found that marjoram administration on DHEA-induced PCOS was most beneficial.…”

“…Because these herbs have properties of regulating lipid and carbohydrate metabolism they can be used by all phenotypes of PCOS women. Several of the herbs also have endocrine properties, these were the ones mentioned earlier: green tea [ 116 ] and marjoram ( Maiorana hortensis ) are some of the herbs whose effects include improvements in hormonal levels, ovaries weight, insulin sensitivity, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory parameters [ 117 , 118 ].…”
