Thermodynamic assessment of the Gd–Sb system

“…The eutectic reaction L / (Gd) þ Gd 5 Sb 3 was reported to be 1120 C, which is between the value of 1128 C [3] and 1113 C [4]. The newly found compound, GdSb 2 forms peritectically at 780 C and a corresponding eutectic reaction between GdSb and Sb was determined to be 624 C. However, noticeable discrepancies were observed between the work of Abdusalyamova et al [5] and the previous work: the peritectic melting temperature for Gd 5 Sb 3 was determined to be 1640 C, which is significantly higher than the value of 1400 C from Ref. Thermodynamic Description of the Gd-Sb and Gd-Bi-Sb Systems
