The ALADIN interactive sky atlas

Abstract: Abstract. The Aladin interactive sky atlas, developed at CDS, is a service providing simultaneous access to digitized images of the sky, astronomical catalogues, and databases. The driving motivation is to facilitate direct, visual comparison of observational data at any wavelength with images of the optical sky, and with reference catalogues. The set of available sky images consists of the STScI Digitized Sky Surveys, completed with high resolution images of crowded regions scanned at the MAMA facility in Pari… Show more

“…The unidenfied ASAS source was 054200-0154.7 (V 0 = 13.167 mag, σ(V 0 ) = 0.245 mag, N obs = 49), which is actually a bright spot in NGC 2024. For the visual identification, we used the Aladin interactive sky atlas (Bonnarel et al 2000). The actual number of stars with light curves was 78, because there were 21 variable star candidates with two corresponding light curves.…”

“…A finder chart of the small area centered on KIC 8462852with other tagged stars discussed in the text, rendered from the 2MASS images using the Aladin application from CDS (Bonnarel et al 2010). All sources listed in Gaia DR1 (Brown et al 2016) are marked with small red squares.…”

“…Using Aladin (Bonnarel et al 2000), we were able to retrieve the catalogs and the archival images, for visual inspection to ensure that our high PM target cross identifications were correct. We also used Topcat (Taylor 2005) to cross-match catalogs.…”
