The AI Methods, Capabilities and Criticality Grid

Abstract: Many artificial intelligence (AI) technologies developed over the past decades have reached market maturity and are now being commercially distributed in digital products and services. Therefore, national and international AI standards are currently being developed in order to achieve technical interoperability as well as reliability and transparency. To this end, we propose to classify AI applications in terms of the algorithmic methods used, the capabilities to be achieved and the level of criticality. The r… Show more

“…Polymer field-theory and polymer reference interaction site model (PRISM) theory approaches are not included in the discussion. Among all techniques that fall under the umbrella of the AI field, we focus on works applying ML methods, , mainly of the supervised and, to a lower extend, unsupervised/semisupervised learning kind. We review pioneering case studies of ML/CG simulations reported in the recent literature and we highlight the specific challenges of applying existing methodologies to polymer systems and at bulk conditions.…”

“…Although not particularly welcomed by everyone in the AI community, Dreyfus has made significant intellectual contributions to the field. The variety of responses to the existing problems analyzed by Dreyfus have been prompting scholars, researchers, and developers to continually reassess and refine their understanding of the capabilities of AI (Schmid et al 2021).…”

“…Due to their strong data relationship and individual adjustments, performance measures like accuracy or precision are not considered. The analysed ML algorithms for the concept are based on Schmid et al (2021), who provide a structured overview of commonly used ML algorithms. Additionally, K nearest neighbours and three ML algorithms covering Ar are considered, based on their relevant application (Riesener et al, 2020).…”
