The adult cavus foot

Abstract: Cavovarus deformity can be classified by the severity of malalignment ranging from a subtle and flexible to a severe and fixed cavovarus deformity of the foot.In the mild cavovarus foot, careful clinical assessment is required to identify the deformity.Weight-bearing radiographs are necessary to indicate the apex of the deformity and quantify the correction required.Surgery is performed when conservative measures fail and various surgical procedures have been described, including a combination of soft-tissue r… Show more

“…A decreased arch increase the risk of hallux valgus, hammer or overlapping toes, medial tibial stress syndrome, patellofemoral pain, metatarsalgia, hallux rigidus, Tailor’s bunion, and lower back pain [ 9 , 10 , 11 , 12 ]. An increased arch might lead to difficulty in putting on footwear, hammertoes, metatarsalgia, sesamoiditis, plantar heel pain, corns and keratosis, ankle sprains, and stress fractures [ 13 , 14 , 15 , 16 ].…”

“…2b), more in keeping with the radiographic angle, such as the calcaneal inclination angle (CIA) 11,15,16 or calcaneal pitch angle. 17,18 For each of these axes, the inclination angle with respect to the ground can also be calculated in 3D, that is, in the plane orthogonal to the ground and containing the axis. Something very similar can be applied to any bone.…”

“…[2] Pes kavus deformitesi çocukluk çağında birçok ayakta yavaş seyirli ve stabil olduğundan başlangıçta konservatif olarak takip Hazır veya kişiye özel üretilmiş tabanlıklar, metatarsal pedler, ayakkabı modifikasyonları, breysler, düşük ayak gelişimi varsa ayak bilek ortezi (AFO) kullanımı ile hastaların günlük aktiviteleri rahatlatılabilir ve ağrı şikayetleri ortadan kaldırılabilir. [13,14] Fizik tedavi olarak, zayıf kasların kuvvetlendirilmesine, kontraktür gelişiminin önlenmesine çalışılır ve ekin deformitesinin tedavisi amacıyla Aşil germe egzersizlerine önem verilir. Ayak bileği instabilitesi olanlarda, propriyosepsiyon egzersizleri ve aktiviteler esnasında ayak bilekliği kullanımı ile sık burkulma şikayetleri kontrol altına alınabilir (Şekil 2).…”
