The adaptation of health technology assessment reports: Identification of the need for, and development of, a toolkit to aid the process

Abstract: Objectives: Europe has many health technology assessment (HTA) agencies, each producing their own HTA reports. Adapting HTA reports for different contexts could reduce the need for multiple reports on the same health technology with resultant saving of time and resources. This study aims to examine and understand the process of adaptation, and to develop a toolkit that would help the adaptation of reports produced by other countries. Methods: The methods used were a review of the literature; a survey of twenty… Show more

“…This issue of transferability is not limited to resource modelling and has been identified as a significant barrier in HTA [35][36][37][38][39]. The applicability of resource modelling results to a given setting depends on the degree of variation between the settings in terms of diffusion, resource use and their associated constraints.…”

“…The toolkit and glossary will be a valuable resource when reading HTA reports produced in different contexts and when adapting HTA reports produced in other countries (23)(24)(25). Next steps within EUnetHTA Collaboration include Web-based implementation and more field testing.…”
