“…Also Friedman et al (2009) studied the semidiurnal tidal feature over Maui and Puerto Rico (18.31N, 66.81W) and its longitudinal variability by analyzing thermal structure with lidar and TIMED/SABER temperature data of six months, although lidar continuous observations are possible in night time of maximum 12 h and TIMED/SABER performs 24 h coverage over a particular place in 60 days (yaw period). Signatures of the terdiurnal tide over Maui are studied very recently in a vivid manner by Jiang et al (2009) using meteor wind data at 80-100 km altitude. Detailed regular and exclusive study of the semidiurnal tide in the horizontal wind over this region is not performed yet.…”

Many previous works have reported the observations of 8 h tide in the MLT region (for example, Glass and Fellons, 1975;Teitelbaum et al, 1989;Oznovich et al, 1995Oznovich et al, , 1997Thayaparan, 1997;Taylor et al, 1999;Smith, 2000;Younger et al, 2002;Taori et al, 2005;Wu et al, 2005;Beldon et al, 2006;Jiang et al, 2009;Rao et al, 2011).
