“…The growth of BiOI in the nanohybrids along the c -axis was limited, leading to decreased thickness and preferentially exposed {001} facets, which has been shown to improve photocatalytic activity of bismuth oxyhalides . It has been reported that a perpendicular internal electric field exists between the [Bi 2 O 2 ] 2+ layers and the halogen layer in bismuth oxyhalides (BiOX) and that the charge carriers separated and transferred more efficiently along the [001] direction in nanosheets due to this internal electric field. , Overall, the increased crystallinity along the c -axis shown by the dominant (001) and (004) reflection peaks observed in XRD suggests a uniform orientation of the internal electric field toward the particle surface.…”
