Text Mining and Hub Gene Network Analysis of Endometriosis

Abstract: This study is aimed at systematically characterizing the endometriosis-associated genes based on text mining and at annotating the functions, pathways, and networks of endometriosis-associated hub genes. We extracted endometriosis-associated abstracts published between 1970 and 2020 from the PubMed database. A neural-named entity recognition and multitype normalization tool for biomedical text mining was used to recognize and normalize the genes and proteins embedded in the abstracts. Gene Ontology and Kyoto E… Show more

“… 8 A recent study conducted by Wang et al established a dataset of endometriosis-associated genes by text mining of the abstracts of the published literature, and found that related hub proteins were mainly involved in biological processes, including cell migration and immune response. 9 Immune-related mechanisms have been reported to participate in the pathophysiology and symptomatology of EMS by promoting the survival and maintenance of endometriosis lesions. 10 Numerous studies have shown systemic and local immunity changes in patients with endometriosis, which remains unknown whether they are the etiology or a consequence of the disease.…”

“…One of the areas with great potential for TM techniques as research tools is biomedicine. TM is used to retrieve chemical drug names, structures, associated properties, disease names, gene and protein names, clinical textual data, and other relevant information for drug discovery (1), drug repurposing (2-3) and many other applications (4)(5)(6).…”
