“…This dataset on distribution, diet and climatic niches is limited to only 34 species from the Phyllostomidae. Indeed, approximately 122 bat species occur in the entire Atlantic Forest, 59 of these from the family Phyllostomidae (Figueiredo et al, 2021). A number of these species have small geographic distributions suggesting specialized climatic niches.…”

“…Much of the Atlantic Forest in this region was lost since the mid 20th century, when the state of Paraná was rapidly deforested for agriculture (Dean 1997, Gubert Filho 2010; remaining forests reside in small (<50 ha), variably sized, and isolated fragments (Ribeiro et al 2009). Despite deforestation and fragmentation, the Atlantic Forest still harbors more than 2,645 species of vertebrates, of which up to 7% are endemic, including approximately 215 species of birds (Vale et al 2018;Figueiredo et al 2021). Of those endemics, some 70 species are globally threatened (IUCN 2021).…”

“…The study area is the Parque Nacional da Serra dos Órgãos, a Protected Area (PA) that is part of the Mosaico da Mata Atlântica Central Fluminense (MCF), located on the State of Rio de Janeiro. The Protected Area is located in a region with the highest species richness of mammals (384) recorded in the Southeast region (Figueiredo et al 2021). Camera traps (Tigrinus and Bushnell) were distributed in 21 stations, each containing two camera traps facing each other (Figure 1).…”
