Tests of Belt Linear Speed for Identification of Frictional Contact Phenomena

Abstract: In the locations where driving forces are transmitted, the changing tensile forces cause rapid elastic deformations of the belt. The deformation changes the belt speed. Measurement of the belt speed on the friction contact sections is essential to identify elastic slippage. However, the scale of the phenomenon is small, so it is necessary to use precise measuring equipment. The article presents measurements of the linear belt speed with the use of various sensors and measuring devices. A measurement error was … Show more

“…The continuously changing tension during the operation of the conveyor belt leads to rapid elastic deformation, accompanied by the phenomenon of elastic sliding. 15 However, the elastic modulus is an important indicator for evaluating the conveyor belt's resistance to elastic deformation and a significant factor affecting the running resistance. Fedorko et al 16 studied the influence of material properties of rubber-fabric conveyor belts on contact force and found a clear dependence between the elastic modulus value and the contact pressure value.…”

“…A belt conveyor is widely used in the industrial field and is mainly used in material transportation equipment [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 ]. The longitudinal rip of the belt—along the running direction caused by hard impurities’ puncture, penetration, and blocking—is one of the common faults of the belt conveyor.…”
