“…Furthermore, β-glucan could be fermented by the colon microbiota and gives the end products of SCFA (mainly acetic, propionic and butyric acids), of which propionic acid plays a crucial role in hypocholesterolaemic activities with suppressing the activity of hydroxy methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG CoA), which is a rate-limiting enzyme during endogenous cholesterol synthesis (64)(65)(66) .
