Antilymphocyte serum and its globulin derivative are powerful immune depressant substances in experimental animals. It is probable that antilymphocyte globulin will prove to be immune depressant in man also. Since 1967 it has been used by a number of clinicians in over 200 transplant cases. Side‐effects have been observed, but they have not been prohibitive in the short term. However, enhanced tumour growth and unusual infections must be watched for. Methods of production, preparation and testing are briefly reviewed. It is suggested that further careful clinical trials in wan should continue.
