Testicular tumors in undescended testes

Abstract: Twelve cases of malignant tumors in undescended testes were studied. Early diagnosis of these tumors was usually difficult as the testes were intraabdominal and the symptoms vague. Sixty percent of the seminoma cases were of the anaplastic aggressive variant. Early treatment of undescended testes included either orchiopexy or orchidectomy in early childhood. Exploratory laparotomy and frozen section examination of the abdominal nodes, followed by silver clip application, aided in better staging and the plannin… Show more

“…46 As well, BM's defect could result in altered parameters of the seminiferous tubules and widening of the intertubular spaces. 47 Interestingly, the present data revealed a significant correlation between the spermatogenic score count and the measured thickness of the PS in the control as well as the experimental groups. This supported our suggestion that the deteriorating effect of ribavirin on the structure and function of the seminiferous tubules could exist through the impairment of the components of the peritubular tissues, namely, BM, myoid cells, and ECM.…”

“…One of these patients had enlarged inguinal lymph nodes and had a left orchiectomy, hemiscrotectomy, and inguinal block dissection performed in addition to his RBD. Two patients had tumors in undescended testes (reported previously [7]) and orchiectomy was performed transabdominally. The other ten cases were diagnosed on high radical orchiectomy .…”
