Test on High-rate Pulverized Coal Injection Operation at Kimitsu No. 3 Blast Furnace.

Abstract: With an operation performed at the pulverized coal rate over 200kg/t-pig and the coke rate below 300kg/t-pig, it has becomeclear that a technical subject posed at this operation is howto improve the reduction-meltdown behavior in the lower part of furnace. (3) It has becomeclear that a factor controlling the pulverized coal injection at the actual furnace is the discharge of unburnt char from the furnace top. Setting the upper limit of injection rate certainly is a subject to be worked out hereafter.

“…Insufficient burnout of PC may result in the unburnt char in the furnace top gas dust. 1,2) Technology to maximise coal combustion and control permeability is the key to maintaining stable operation. 3,4) Mathematical models, based on reaction kinetics of combustion as well as heat, mass and momentum balances, are regarded as one of the most useful tools for the design and optimisation of pulverised coal combustion devices.…”

“…As both coke and Energies 2017, 10, 255 3 of 12 pulverized coal are used as fuel for melter gasifiers, the carbon in the recycling dust may originate from different regions according to researchers [13][14][15][16][17]. The origin of carbon was investigated by petrographic analysis using an OPTON-II polarizing microscope (Carl Zeiss AG, Oberkochen, Germany).…”

“…En este período se estableció que, para lograr un consumo total de combustible inferior a 500 kg/ta, el límite superior de carbón inyectado (para 100 % de combustión) debe ser de 180 kg/ta, y que el tamaño de molienda del carbón debe situarse en el 80 % < 0,070 mm (84). En el HA-3 de esta fábrica se han realizado ensayos para conocer la influencia de la inyección de 200 kg/ta sobre el estado térmico del raceway y la zona de toberas (85)(86)(87).…”
