Terrisporobacter petrolearius sp. nov., isolated from an oilfield petroleum reservoir

Abstract: A Gram-staining-positive, spore-forming, strictly anaerobic bacterium, designated strain LAM0A37 T , was isolated from enrichment samples collected from a petroleum reservoir in Shengli oilfield. Cells of strain LAM0A37 T were rod-shaped and motile by peritrichous flagella. The optimal temperature and pH for growth were 40 8C and 7.0-7.5, respectively. The strain did not require NaCl for growth but tolerated up to 3 % (w/v) NaCl. Strain LAM0A37 T was able to utilize glucose, fructose, maltose, xylose, sorbitol… Show more

“…The Clostridium_sensu_stricto_1 genus has been shown to be correlated with epithelial inflammation in the intestinal mucosa (Wang et al, 2017). In addition, Terrisporobacter is a kind of emerging anaerobic pathogen and acetogenic bacterium, which can degrade various carbon sources, like xylose and cellobiose (Deng et al, 2015;Cheng et al, 2016;Groher and Weuster-Botz, 2016). Interestingly, our study showed that XOS500 supplementation only decreased the opportunistic pathogenic strains Clostridium_sensus_stricto_1, Escherichia_Shigella and Terrisporobacter and increased the beneficial bacteria genus Lactobacillus.…”

“…The KEGG pathway describes nitrogen metabolism in C. glutamicum R 81 Prevotella Pig = cow Members of this genus utilise glucose in anaerobic growth using the Embden-Meyerhof-Parnas pathway and the usual enzymes involved except that phosphofructokinase was pyrophosphate-dependent. The cells use available glucose to produce acetate, formate and succinate 82 , 83 Terrisporobacter Pig = cow Members of the genus are able to ferment glucose to produce acetates 84 , 85 Streptococcus Horse < cow = pig Species of Streptococcus utilise carbohydrate metabolism to generate energy for growth generating acids in the process. They are mostly pathogenic 86 , 87 Clostridium Cow < Pig < horse Most members of these species are pathogenic to animals.…”

“…These were anaerobic microorganisms that played an important role in the degradation of organic matter, including lipids, proteins and polymeric carbohydrates [1920]. Terrisporobacter , which produced spores, could adapt to a high osmotic pressure environment [21]. Hence, this group was present during the whole compost process.…”
