Terrestrial Insect Fauna of the Junam Wetlands Area in Korea

Abstract: Terrestrial insect fauna was surveyed in the Junam wetland area, which consists of the Junam, Dongpan, and Sannam wetlands, by visual counting and pictures. A sweep net collection was conducted from May to October 2010. A neighburing artificial lotus wetland was also surveyed for comparison. A total of 5,730 insects were surveyed, representing 268 species in 85 families and 12 orders. Sixty-three species of coleopterans were surveyed, followed by 60 species of Lepidoptera, and 37 species of Hemiptera. Coleopte… Show more

“…It shows the similarity of the two communities based on the collected species. When the communities are less than 20% similar, they are heterogeneous, and homogeneous when they are 80% or more similar (Ahn & Park 2012; Whittaker 1956). As a result of the similarity indices based on sites and seasons, nine cases of similarity indices with 0.2 or more were identified.…”

“…Species diversity has been under perils due to anthropogenic changes in the landscapes resulting in the modification of the habitat (Turner 1989;Gibbs & Stanton 2001;Wagner & Edwards 2001). To understand species distributional patterns in different landscapes, insect fauna has been studied at local and regional levels (Cho et al 2008;Ahn & Park 2012;Lim et al 2013;Rafi et al 2017).…”
