Ternary CuCo2S4 Thiospinel Nanocrystal-Coated Photodiode with Improved Photoresponsivity and Acceptance Angles for Optoelectronic Applications

Abstract: Ternary-structured thiospinels have attracted great attention in recent years for energy applications due to their attractive characteristics such as simple production, earth-abundant components and non-toxic nature. In this work, copper cobalt sulfide (CuCo 2 S 4 or carrollite) thiospinel nanocrystals were synthesized by a hot-injection method, and detailed electrical and optoelectronic characterizations were performed in a Schottky device. The synthesized nanocrystals were used as an interfacial layer betwee… Show more

“…From these equations, it is obvious that dV/d(lnI) vs I and H(I) vs I graphs display straight-line profile. While dV/d(lnI) versus I graph gives n and Rs values from the y-intercept and slope of the plot, the H(I) versus I graph provides to determine the Ф and one of another Rs values [78,79]. Fig.…”

“…According to Rouger and Maréchal (2019), SBDs have demonstrated high breakdown voltages of 10 kV, a high electric field of 7.7 MV•cm−1, good switching properties, and elevated operating temperatures (>250 °C) [8]. Research on adding organics [9][10][11], metal oxides [12], and nanocrystal materials [13][14][15] have been conducted in an increasing number of studies to improve the electrical properties of diodes.…”

“…Thiospinels are one of the most interesting spinels [4,5]. These sulfur-based spinel compounds have a high potential to be used in energy applications due to their remarkable crystal, electric, thermoelectric, magnetic, and optical properties [6,7]. There are many studies on the usage of thiospinels in batteries, super-capacitors, and electrochemical reactions [8][9][10][11][12].…”
