Terbium Tetra‐Sulfosalicylate Complex as Quantitative Luminescent Sensing of Chromate Ions with High Selectivity and Sensitivity

Abstract: In this study, a terbium(Ш) complex, Tb(SSA) 4 (SSA = sulfosalicylate), was synthesized and employed to detect toxic chromate anion (CrO 4 2− ) as a visually identifiable probe. Luminescence investigations confirmed that the Tb complex is an excellent probe with high selectivity, high sensitivity (I 0 /I 100 μM = 9.5), and a low detection limit (2.8 × 10 −8 M), targeting CrO 4 2− in aqueous solution. The simple fluorescencebased probe can be quickly and easily prepared, and enables the reliable, visual detecti… Show more

“…In particular, the quenching seems to be more pronounced for Na-TbEuSAP. The performance demonstrated for both samples in these preliminary tests are extremely encouraging, and are comparable to those of other luminescent probes based on MOFs mostly containing transitions metals and Eu 3+ , 66 Tb 3+complexes, 67 coordinated polymers with Zn 2+ and Tb 3+ , 68 and carbon quantum dots. 69…”
