Phillips recognized the value of using the InSb detector with a local oscillator in a homodyne mixer mode, and he constructed a detector that could reach a noise limit (heterodyne noise equivalent power) of 10 W per Hertz up to 120 GHz for his electron spin resonance measurements [10], [11].…”
