Teori Beban Kognitif dalam Pengembangan Multimedia Pembelajaran Matematika

Abstract

Computer-assisted multimedia is needed to improve the quality of mathematics learning. The use of many media in learning has many advantages. However, more and more media contained in multimedia can make students experience koqnitive overload. Therefore, in the development of computer-assisted multimedia it is necessary to note about the theory of cognitive load. This study aims to find out how the development of multimedia mathematics learning based on cognitive load theory with intrinsic cognitive load management, strengthening cognitive load germane, and minimizing extraneous cognitive load. This research uses descriptive qualitative research method by discussing the theory of cognitive load in multimedia video lecturesbased mathematics learning with trigonometry II material for students of grade XI SMK equivalent. In this study, researchers acted as the main instrument. The results of the study showed that multimedia developed is in accordance with the theory of cognitive load that is in accordance with the principles of intrinsic cognitive load management, strengthening cognitive load germane, and minimizing extraneous cognitive load.
