Tensile properties and die swell behaviours of highly filled polypropylene nanocomposites

Abstract: Highly filled polypropylene (PP) composites incorporated with zero-, one-and two-dimensional nanofillers (0D, 1D and 2D, NFs) were investigated through measuring tensile properties and extrudate swell behaviour. Effects of NFs concentration and particle dimensionality on die swell ratio and tensile properties were identified under the given melt pressure, temperature and shear rate. A static extensional flow mixer with contractional flow gaps was used to improve the dispersion of NFs. Results showed that enhan… Show more

“…The results of these properties clearly show that in the short term, the addition of recycled material to the virgin material does not change the tensile properties but significantly affects the life of the part. The results also confirm the conclusions obtained in the studies by Lin et al [26] and Razak et al [27].…”

“…The materials that form the matrices of the composites belong to the group of engineering (structural) or highly durable (high-tech) polymer composites. From the group of structural polymers, the PBT material (polybutylene terephthalate) and PPA material (polyphthalamide) were selected [ 13 , 14 ].…”
