Tendencies in Land Use and Land Cover in Serbia Towards Sustainable Development in 1990-2018

Abstract: The overuse of natural resources by humanity in recent decades has resulted in noticeable changes environment quality. Global environmental research is particularly interested in the topics of land use change and land cover. The Republic of Serbia has a diverse spectrum of landforms, with agricultural use taking up the largest portions, followed by forestry, water, and building land. Significant anthropogenic pressures (such as mining, deforestation, urbanization, and uncontrolled land use, among other things)… Show more

“…This chapter delves into the emerging field of geo-tourism and its potential to promote sustainable tourism and foster local economic development. By focusing on the Danube region in Serbia, a culturally diverse and rich area [23][24][25][26] within the Western Balkans and Southeastern Europe, this study employed a comprehensive methodology that seamlessly combined geo-statistical and machine learning tools. Through the meticulous collection and analysis of various geographical and cultural factors, the study's findings shed light on the region's geo-tourism potential, offering valuable insights for informed decision-making.…”

“…Forecasts are less precise as a result of buildings' lengthy lifespans. As a result, the uncertainty of costs throughout the operation and maintenance of buildings depends on a variety of factors, including predictions of the inflation rate, energy prices, laws, local taxes, cost of materials, and labor expenses [86,87].…”

“…Per the requirements of various engineering and construction works in the country, the Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources took the lead in carrying out research on high density resistivity method and its applications [12][13][14][15]. In both theory and practice, field scholars have discussed this method and solved a few difficulties related to it, also, some devices that fit the requirements at that time have been developed according to these research achievements [16][17][18]. Now the high density resistivity method is a mature geophysical exploration method that has been widely used in geological survey and many engineering exploration fields including the detection of goaf areas, ground cracks, and underground karst areas [19,20]; the application effect in these projects is satisfactory, as a result, the economic benefits of local society have been improved.…”
