“…According to the National Institute of Statistics (Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas, 2018a, 2021), the Total Fertility Rate (TFR) in Chile has decreased steeply from 5.4 in 1960 to 1.4 in 2019. The rate of decline was fastest between the 1960s and the 1990s, as a series of social, economic, and healthcare reforms contributed to fertility control through contraception and boosting women’s participation in education and the labour market (Stefanelli et al, 2016). The ASFR also presents important changes during this period.…”
