Ten years of research on parametric data envelopment analysis

Abstract: ABSTRACT. In this paper we present a brief overview of 10 years of research on Parametric Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). We begin with a brief introduction to DEA. Then, we present the central problem of how to distribute a new and total fixed variable (input or output) across all DMUs (Decision Making Units) present in the analysis. We then tell the history of the developments in Parametric DEA, beginning with its first conception in 2002, moving onward to the current research. We conclude with a brief disc… Show more

“…In a different context, certain authors (see, e.g., [4,5,25,[29][30][31]37]) proposed continuously differentiable DEA frontiers to redistribute resources among the DMUs. Their results may be considered a smoothed variant of Zero Sum Gains DEA.…”

“…Embora em um contexto totalmente diferente (o da distribuição de recursos e/ou produtos), os chamados modelos DEA paramétricos também apresentam uma fronteira eficiente continuamente diferenciável. Estes modelos podem ser vistos em Milioni & Alves (2013), Guedes et al (2012), , Milioni et al (2011a, b), Avellar et al (2010), Colen et al (2009), Avellar et al (2007, e Silveira et al (2011).…”

“…Beasley (2003) have presented a five-stage model for maximizing DMUs efficiency by resources allocation. However, as pointed by Milioni and Bianca Alves (2013), this model presents a complex formulation in which a phase requires a nonlinear optimization solution. Lins et al (2003) have developed the Zero Sum Gains DEA model (ZSG-DEA) to set targets for countries at the Olympic Games considering the total sum of medals fixed.…”

“…Milioni et al (2011b) andSilva et al (2017) have introduced the hyperbolic DEA frontier. Milioni and Bianca Alves (2013) have made a brief overview about related studies on Parametric DEA models.…”
