“…The percentage of patients free of thromboembolic events was higher in the AVR cohort than in the MVR cohort, similarly to what was observed by others 18 . However, the linearized rate of thromboembolic complications in this series is comparable with other series of St Jude medical, as well as the incidence of anticoagulationrelated bleeding complications 15,[17][18][19] . The higher incidence of thromboembolic events in patients with mitral mechanical prosthesis is a well known fact 1 , in which atrial fibrillation certainly also has a important role.…”

“…We used SJM valves in all patients who underwent MVR. It is well known that the SJM valve is a reliable, durable valve prosthesis with excellent hemodynamic function and low incidence of thromboembolic events [8][9][10][11]. Our satisfactory results may be produced from that reason.…”

“…It is well known that postoperative LV function of MVP is superior to MVR. However, MVP depend on th Meanwhile, MVR also had good results over a 10 year period [8][9][10][11] according to the recent advancement of prosthetic valves. To avoid postoperative low cardiac output syndrome, Lillehei et al [12] began to replace diseased mitral valves while preserving the posterior leaflet, chordae and papillary muscles in 1962.…”
