“…These findings are consistent with other investigations that have employed other measures of quality of life to gauge the status of people with visual impairment and blindness, 58,31,32 or eye diseases. 2837 Patterns of decreased quality of life are reported among those who are younger 38–40 as well as those over 65 years, although most studies have addressed older people.…”

“…Similar to ours, other studies have also shown that visual acuity drives the QOL outcomes in patients with diabetic retinopathy [2125]. A reduction of 2 ETDRS lines seems to affect domains of driving, dependency, role limitation, and mental health [23, 24]; reduction of 3 ETDRS lines additionally affects domains of near and distance vision [22]. In our study maximum affected domains were distance and near activities.…”

“…[1][2][3] Diabetic macular edema has been reported to negatively affect patients' general health and self-reported visual functioning. [4][5][6][7] Effects of treatment on patient-reported visual functioning have been demonstrated for both ranibizumab and pegaptanib in neovascular age-related macular degeneration (AMD). [8][9][10] However, similar evidence for treatment of DME had been lacking before recent findings from the Ranibizumab Monotherapy or Combined With Laser vs Laser Monotherapy for Diabetic Macular Edema (RESTORE) trial.…”
