Changes observed in nine meteorological variables obtained from the Three Rivers Source Region (TRSR) between 1960 and 2009 were investigated using a fitted linear model, Mann-Kendall test, moving t-test, and Morlet wavelet. Analysis of the regionally scaled annual series from 1960 to 2009 showed that minimum (T min ), maximum (T max ), mean (T mean ) air temperature, precipitation (P ), potential evaporation (E p ), and sunshine hours (SH ) increased while relative humidity (RH ) and wind speed (W ) decreased. Trends were significant at a 99% confidence level for air temperature and at a 95% confidence level for E p and W . With the exception of SH , regional scale changes observed in all variables in the past decade (2000)(2001)(2002)(2003)(2004)(2005)(2006)(2007)(2008)(2009)) when compared to climate norms (means of all climatic variables) from 1961 to 1990 were consistent with their corresponding linear trends from 1960 to 2009. T max , T mean , and drought index (DI ) exhibited one climate jump, T min and RH two, and SH , E p , and W three at a significance level of α = 0.05. On a regional scale, the period from 1986 to 1997 experienced a warmer, drier climate due to higher than average air temperatures, lower P , and higher DI compared to means from 1960 to 2009. The majority of meteorological variables of the TRSR experienced significant (α = 0.05) short periodical cycling between 2 and 5 years. In terms of spatial distribution, seven out of 12 meteorological stations underwent warmer and wetter periods from 1960 to 2009, whereas the other five situated in the southeastern section of the TRSR underwent warmer, drier periods.

ABSTRACT:One approach to verify the adequacy of estimation methods of reference evapotranspiration is the comparison with the Penman-Monteith method, recommended by the United Nations of Food and Agriculture Organization -FAO, as the standard method for estimating ET 0 . This study aimed to compare methods for estimating ET 0 , Makkink (MK), Hargreaves (HG) and Solar Radiation (RS), with Penman-Monteith (PM). For this purpose, we used daily data of global solar radiation, air temperature, relative humidity and wind speed for the year 2010, obtained through the automatic meteorological station, with latitude 18° 91' 66" S, longitude 48° 25' 05" W and altitude of 869m, at the National Institute of Meteorology situated in the Campus of Federal University of Uberlandia -MG, Brazil. Analysis of results for the period were carried out in daily basis, using regression analysis and considering the linear model y = ax, where the dependent variable was the method of Penman-Monteith and the independent, the estimation of ET 0 by evaluated methods. Methodology was used to check the influence of standard deviation of daily ET 0 in comparison of methods. The evaluation indicated that methods of Solar Radiation and PenmanMonteith cannot be compared, yet the method of Hargreaves indicates the most efficient adjustment to estimate ETo.

Neste trabalho se avaliou a existência de tendência na distribuição temporal dos elementos do clima e da evapotranspiração de referência para a localidade de Catalão, no estado de Goiás. Para o período de 1961 a 2011 um conjunto de dados diários de temperatura máxima e mínima do ar, insolação, velocidade do vento e umidade relativa, para o período de 1961 a 2011 foi utilizado para o cálculo da evapotranspiração pelo método de Penman-Monteith. Buscou-se identificar a presença de tendência para as séries de dados mensais através da aplicação dos testes estatísticos de Mann-Kendall, do estimador da inclinação de Sen e da regressão linear com o teste de Student, para o coeficiente angular da reta. Devido ao aumento das temperaturas máxima e mínima e à redução da umidade relativa, aumentos estatisticamente significativos foram observados na evapotranspiração de referência para os meses de setembro, outubro, dezembro e para a série anual.
