“…Although increasing the amount of CFO in the nanocomposite structure leads to increased light absorption, it should be noted that other important parameters such as the number of active sites, morphology, and appropriate fitting of the band structure (separation of charge carriers) can also affect the photocatalytic activity. Furthermore, the band gap energy ( E g ) of pure samples was obtained by the Tauc plot acquired using the following relationship: 77 αhν = A ( hν − E g ) n where h , A , and hν are Planks constant, constant, and light photon energy. The value of n , which depends on the nature of electron transition, can be 1/2, 2, 3/2, and 3 for permitted direct, permitted indirect, prohibited direct, and prohibited indirect transition, respectively.…”

“…The pollutant concentrations are likely to be varied for research articles, and the variations are very broad. They are mostly distributed in the range of 5 to 10 mg/L, but a relatively high concentration of 20 mg/L was used herein to demonstrate the great photocatalytic degradation performance of TiO 2 -coated YSZ/silica NF 61 , 62 . That is, we endeavored to accomplish the excellence of our study by using a relatively higher pollutant concentration than the commonly used pollutant concentration.…”
