“…M. lateralis has been well studied with respect to its salinity and temperature tolerances from eggs through adults both in the field and in the laboratory. Kennedy et al (1974) demonstrated that temperature sensitivity decreased in the following order: 2-3 hour cleavage stage, trochophore larvae, straight hinge veliger. Calabrese (1969bCalabrese ( , 1970 and Calabrese & Rhodes (1974) showed that although the larvae grew in temperature/salinity combinations ranging from 20-300/00 and 20-30°C, optimal conditions for embryos were 22.5 -300/00 and 15 -25°C while optimal conditions for larvae ranged from 20-27%0 and 7.5-2rc.…”
