Temperature Evolution of the Optical Absorption Edge in (NH3C2H5)2CuCl4 Crystals

Abstract: The temperature evolution of the optical absorption spectra of (NH3C2H5)2CuCl4 crystals has been investigated. It was shown that the absorption edge in these materials regardless of the origin of the edge band possesses an exponential shape following the empirical Urbach rule due to the existence of the exciton–phonon interaction (EPI).
