“…The non-monotonic evolution of T CDW with a reduction of flake thickness is rare. In the bulk AV 3 Sb 5 , the CDW order exhibits a 3D character with 2 × 2 × 2 or 2 × 2 × 4 structural reconstruction 28 , 39 , 62 , 63 . It is generally believed that EPC plays a crucial role in promoting the CDW order 47 , 50 52 in bulk kagome metals despite the absence of phonon softening across the transition, which may be related to the failure of the conduction electrons to screen the phonon vibration 50 , 64 .…”

“…At ambient pressure, a CDW in AV 3 Sb 5 sets in at T CDW ∼78 K, 93 K and 103 K for A = K, Cs and Rb, respectively. For CsV 3 Sb 5 there have been several reports based on high energy x-ray diffraction [21,22,37] and resonant x-ray diffraction at the V and Sb absorption edges. [38] Few groups [21,22,39] have reported the occurrence of a CDW instability in CsV 3 Sb 5 which is three-dimensional in nature, with a resulting 2 × 2 × 4 superstructure.…”

“…X-ray diffraction measurements show that the CDW is characterised by a unit cell doubling along both a and b direction, and a quadrupling along the c axis [20][21][22]. Distinct CDW phases were theoretically shown to be energetically favorable, leading to the tunability of type of CDW order by an external parameter such as temperature, pressure or doping [15,[23][24][25][26][27].…”

“…The 2×2×1 CDW, i.e., the star of David (SD) and inverse star of David (ISD) 4 structures, have been commonly adopted to understand various experiments and conceive theoretical models. Recent experiments suggest two-fold or four-fold interlayer modulation with alternative SD and ISD layers 6,28, [43][44][45][46][47] .…”
