“…The Raman peaks located at 596, 412, and 350 cm −1 correspond to the β‐phase, while the peaks centered at 560, 520, 430, and 292 cm −1 are related with the γ‐phase . Thus, the Raman analysis reveals the presence of β , γ, and t″ phases in the 12ScSZ sample.…”

“…The pure SCSZ spectrum was detailed in Ref. 18, where it was found that, in addition to the 623 cm −1 band, the spectrum consisted of 239, 315, 378, 480 cm −1 bands. It was also established that 315 and 378 cm −1 bands could be detected using 532 nm visible light, but could not be seen using another 785 nm near infrared laser.…”

“…[12][13][14] While it was established that the amorphous carbon deposits completely cover Ni grains in Ni/YSZ cermets with a fully deactivating catalyst for fuel oxidation reactions, the carbon forms rod-shaped graphite structures when SSZ is used as a matrix phase, thus the catalytic activity of the anode is much less affected. 14 It was also reported that the cubic scandia and ceria stabilized zirconia phase is less stable and will exhibit a cubic-torhombohedral (c → ␤) phase transition, 15,16 and that cubic SCSZ can be considered as a metastable phase existing at room temperature 17,18 in accordance with a Sc 2 O 3 -ZrO 2 equilibrium phase diagram, where the cubic structure does not exist at room temperature. 15 It was reported that when NiO is in direct contact with SCSZ in a Ni/SCSZ matrix at high temperature, the Ce atoms might diffuse out and the Ni atoms might diffuse into SCSZ grains, thus causing fast destabilization of the cubic lattice and enforcing the undesirable cubic-to-rhombohedral phase transition.…”

“…3,[6][7][8][9][10][11] This technique requires a laser of a given wavelength, also known as the excitation wavelength, to be illuminated on the surface of the ceramic. The photons radiated by the laser cause the electrons in the atomic bonds to move to an exited state.…”
