RESUMENLas lesiones de miembro superior ocasionan un profundo impacto en la calidad de vida del paciente. Es bien conocido que para la recuperación del paciente, debe permitírsele jugar un papel activo en su proceso de rehabilitación. Por esta razón, las nuevas tecnologías como la robótica, se están implementando para abordar este problema; tal como lo presentan las múltiples investigaciones reportadas en la literatura. En este artículo, se documentó una revisión de la literatura sobre dispositivos y sistemas robóticos para rehabilitación del miembro superior en niños, lo que incluyó algunos que aún se encuentran en fase de desarrollo, con el fin de ofrecer un panorama global sobre los diseños y soluciones que faciliten el avance de nuevos dispositivos. Para facilidad del lector, este documento se distribuyó en marco teórico, metodología, resultados y discusión, proyecciones de la ingeniería de rehabilitación y conclusiones.Palabras clave: Tecnología de asistencia, ingeniería, robótica, terapia, rehabilitación, revisión. ABSTRACTUpper limb injuries cause a profound impact on patient's quality of life. It is well known that for the recovery of the patient, should be allowed to play an active role in their rehabilitation process. For this reason, new technologies such as robotics, are being implemented to address this problem; as presented by the multiple investigations reported in the literature. In this article, the review of devices and robotic systems for rehabilitation of the upper limb in children was documented, including some that are still under development, in order to provide a comprehensive overview of the designs and solutions to facilitate the development of new devices. For convenience of the reader, this document was distributed into theoretical framework, methodology, results and discussion, projections rehabilitation engineering and conclusions.

Abstract:The teleoperation of robot manipulators over the internet suffers from variable delays in the communications. Here we address a tele-assistance scenario, where a remote operator assists a disabled or elderly user on daily life tasks. Our behavioral approach uses local environment information from robot sensing to help enable faster execution for a given movement tolerance. This is achieved through a controller that automatically slows the operator down before having collisions, using a set of distributed proximity sensors. The controller is made to gradually increase the assistance in situations similar to those where ollisions have occurred in the past, thus adapting to the given operator, robot and task-set. Two controlled virtual experiments for tele-assistance with a 5 DOF manipulator were performed, with 300 ms and 600 ms mean variable round-trip delays. The results showed significant improvements in the median times of 12.6% and 16.5%, respectively. Improvements in the subjective workload were also seen with the controller. A first implementation on a physical robot manipulator is described.

Several factors may prevent post-stroke subjects from participating in rehabilitation protocols, for example, geographical location of rehabilitation centres, socioeconomic status, economic burden and lack of logistics surrounding transportation. Early supported discharge from hospitals with continued rehabilitation at home represents a well-defined regimen of post-stroke treatment. Information-based technologies coupled with robotics have promoted the development of new technologies for telerehabilitation. In this article, the design and development of a modular architecture for delivering upper limb robotic telerehabilitation with the CBM-Motus, a planar unilateral robotic machine that allows performing state-of-the-art rehabilitation tasks, have been presented. The proposed architecture allows a therapist to set a therapy session on his or her side and send it to the patient's side with a standardized communication protocol; the user interacts with the robot that provides an adaptive assistance during the rehabilitation tasks. Patient's performance is evaluated by means of performance indicators, which are also used to update robot behaviour during assistance. The implementation of the architecture is described and a set of validation tests on seven healthy subjects are presented. Results show the reliability of the novel architecture and the capability to be easily tailored to the user's needs with the chosen robotic device.
