Teeth clearance effects upon pressure and film thickness in a trochoidal hydrostatic gear pump

Abstract: This paper describes the teeth clearance influence on the tooth number contact in a hydrostatic pump in which arc circular profiles are used. Both the teeth clearance and the teeth deformation in contact are considered. Because of the teeth clearance, a severe reduction in number point contact and diminution in wide surface contact of the pinion are predicted. A steep-by-steep procedure for determining the normal force contact between teeth is outlined. The pressure contact and the film thickness are then dedu… Show more

“…A step forward describing precisely the geometry of a gerotor pump to evaluate the effectiveness of surface contact, teeth clearance and deformation on teeth contact was conducted by Paffoni [21] and Paffoni et al [22]. Thus, sliding velocity, pressure contact and film thickness could be addressed and compared with a pump without clearance, and important results were presented.…”

“…Some complex analytic methods, such as the Tooth Contact Analysis (TCA) [98], have been developed for the calculation of the real line of contact and also of the clearance between the pair of teeth not in contact [99][100][101]. As alternative, it is possible to use a less refined but effective procedure [34].…”

“…Without considering manufacturing installation error and elastic deformation during works and the thermal deformation caused by clearance changes under the condition of [16,[24][25][26], once confirmed the link under a certain condition gets the best convergence of the medial convergence gap, so it can proceed to link the inside dimensions of design calculation, as shown in Fig. (5).…”
