Technology-enhanced learning: a role for video animation

Abstract: The last 20 years has seen a shift in medical education from printed analogue formats of knowledge transfer to digital knowledge transfer via media platforms and virtual learning environments. Traditional university medical teaching was characterised by lectures and printed textbooks, which to a degree still have an important role to play in knowledge acquisition, but which in isolation do not engage the modern learner, who has become reliant on digital platforms and 'soundbite' learning. Recently, however, tr… Show more

“…The results of this study were strengthened by the results of several previous studies conducted by several researchers, including the research of Puspitarini et al (2019), which also has similarities with this study related to testing the effectiveness of animated videos, but the Puspitarini et al's research places more emphasis on the use of Powtoon applications to create animated videos. The results of Stadlinger et al (2021), also strengthen the position of this research concerning the use of animated videos in supporting the improvement of the learning process. The research results of Nuni et al (2019), also strengthen the position of this research as a solution to overcome the obstacles of Muntiani's previous research by demonstrating the existence of a process of testing the effectiveness of animated videos that support learning.…”

“…Overall, the findings obtained both from descriptive analysis and based on the results of t-test analysis, a decision can be made that attractive digital learning media has a better influence compared to learning without using e-modules. This is because theoretically attractive digital learning media is able to make it easier for students to find subject matter and is able to streamline student time to be able to study at home and is not limited to only being able to study at school, the way students learn becomes more organized and in accordance with existing learning indicators, students become more independent in doing the projects given [14].…”

“…In the whole process of education, the ability-based teaching method is the requirement of educational fair value. The deep integration of AI and education has resulted in a fundamental change in the form of education, and revised the relationship between teachers and students, which can help learners adapt and learn individualizedly, and provide a new way to achieve educational equity ( Stadlinger et al, 2021 ; Zhou et al, 2021 ). Deep learning (DL) is an important technical means to achieve AI, which is considered to be one of the key technologies to promote the explosive growth of AI research and application.…”
