The job interview is a vital component to acquire employment. Individuals with autism spectrum disorder may experience difficulties with job interviews due to notable deficits in social and communication skills. We evaluated the relative impact of several components of a job interview training package on six participants' responses to commonly asked interview questions. We used a multiple baseline design across participants to present the following components: written instructions, rehearsal and video selffeedback with a commercially available training program, and verbal feedback delivered by the experimenter. Results demonstrated that all participants required an additional behavioral skills training session to meet our mastery criterion. However, once training was complete, all participants showed generalized performance when the interview questions were presented in a varied format and by a novel interviewer outside of the training environment. In addition, their performance was maintained at follow-up. KEYWORDS autism spectrum disorder, behavioral skills training, InterviewStream©, job interview training

This study examined the differences between student's self-reported communication interview skills before and after they received interview instructions and experienced virtual simulation interviews in a basic communication course. Incorporating interview instruction and utilizing mock interviewing software, InterviewStream, into several basic communication courses, this study found a significant difference between students' pre-instruction and post-instruction interview self-assessment scores. A Student Assessment of Learning Gains (SALG) revealed that students reported more confidence in their interviewing skills, were more likely to seek help from career services, and pay more attention to non-verbal communication during the interview (dress, posture, and eye contact) after participating in virtual mock interviews.This study examined the differences between student's self-reported communication interview skills before and after they received interview instructions and experienced virtual simulation interviews in a basic communication course. Mock interviews are an evidence-based method of preparing learners for real employment situations. The effect of novel approaches, such as digital, asynchronous and AI-mediated mock interviews have likewise shown beneficial to students but are currently underrepresented in the literature. This study examined students’ satisfaction levels and perceptions related to virtual mock interviews during the Covid-19 pandemic. Findings show that students had a positive experience, insofar as they believed it to be useful in increasing their ability to perform better in a real interview. While differences were noted among multiple variables, the primary factor associated with positive student outcomes seems to be their level of preparedness prior to the simulation.
