Technological and economic perspectives for development and manufacturing of cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries for transport industry

Abstract: Energy accumulators are one of the key directions of research and applied development in the spheres of power generation, saving and efficiency. Lithium-ion batteries (LIB) are widely used in portable power sources for modern electronics. However, currently the most perspective sphere of their use is transport industry. In this article we discuss the perspectives of using LIB in road vehicles manufacturing, as well as the main trends development of new cathode materials for LIB. In the medium-term perspective,… Show more

“…As is well known, modern society is greatly dependent on portable electronic devices such as smart‐phones, laptops, electric vehicles (EVs), etc. In particular the demand on EVs equipped with self‐contained batteries will explode in the 21 st century due to the imperative of reducing carbon footprints . Lithium is here to stay due to its superior potential for energy storage, apart from being light in weight, electropositive, non‐toxic and broadly available.…”
