Technological and Ecological Aspects of Disposal of Spent Cutting Fluids

Abstract: Processing of metals by cutting under modern conditions becomes impossible without the use of effective cutting fluids. The main purpose of cutting fluids is cooling, lubrication of the workpiece processing area. Spent emulsion is a special type of wastewater, very dangerous to the environment, as it contains a large number of persistently emulsified petroleum products. The methods using various surfactants were tested for the cutting fluid disposal. The obtained results allowed proposing a general flow diagra… Show more

“…Cutting fluid has been used for hundreds of years as an essential part of the machining industry, and its main functions are cooling, lubrication, cleaning, and rust prevention, etc [1,2]. The selection of an appropriate lubrication process and cutting fluid in metal cutting can extend the tool life and improve machining efficiency and surface quality [3][4][5][6][7][8][9]. Therefore, the cutting fluid and its supply method play a crucial role in the machining of mechanical parts.…”

“…For planning production processes, the deterministic factors are warehouse [63,64] and acquisition processes into account their adaptability in response to changes [65]. An additional factor that may be taken into account in the planning process is the possibility of organizing production processes based on synchronous production, but also ecological [66,67] and energy-saving [68] production. Production management in such a changeable environment encourages the search for technical and organizational solutions that can be applied in practice.…”
