Technological advancements in the care of the trauma patient

Abstract: The advances in trauma care are in great measure due to the integration of many different systems. Medical technology impacts care in the field at the site of the trauma, in the transport to trauma facilities, and care at the trauma center itself. “…Previous studies have shown optimization of TRs could increase the survival rates of TR patients (Havermans et al , 2019). As an essential component of TRs, technological advancements have played a significant role in the enhancement of care among trauma patients and are used in various forms to improve the pace and quality of care (Siracuse et al , 2012). From patients’ prearrival to their transfer process or discharge, TR patients require timely and efficient care.…”

“…From patients’ prearrival to their transfer process or discharge, TR patients require timely and efficient care. Prearrival information exchange with the hospital, advanced care from a team of health-care professionals and safe transfer to the operating room can impact a patient’s condition, and technology plays an essential role throughout the process (Siracuse et al , 2012; Selvakumar et al , 2021). In Level I trauma cases, timely response in resuscitation directly influences the chances of saving a patient’s life (Rogers and Rittenhouse, 2014; Wulffeld et al , 2017).…”
