“…The inverse-chi-squared (ICS) family of distributions is widely used in Bayesian statistics to represent prior information about a variance for normally distributed data. Applications of ICS distributions in metrology include stiffness of anisotropic solid materials using ultrasound spectroscopy [32], lithographic control using critical dimension scanning electron microscope [33] and construction of a curve fitted to points in a twodimensional coordinate system [34].
