Remotely monitoring a patient's condition is a serious issue and must be addressed. Remote health monitoring systems (RHMS) in telemedicine refers to resources, strategies, methods and installations that enable doctors or other medical professionals to work remotely to consult, diagnose and treat patients. The goal of RHMS is to provide timely medical services at remote areas through telecommunication technologies. Through major advancements in technology, particularly in wireless networking, cloud computing and data storage, RHMS is becoming a feasible aspect of modern medicine. RHMS for the prioritisation of patients with multiple chronic diseases (MCDs) plays an important role in sustainably providing high-quality healthcare services. Further investigations are required to highlight the limitations of the prioritisation of patients with MCDs over a telemedicine environment. This study introduces a comprehensive and inclusive review on the prioritisation of patients with MCDs in telemedicine applications. Furthermore, it presents the challenges and open issues regarding patient prioritisation in telemedicine. The findings of this study are as follows: (1) The limitations and problems of existing patients' prioritisation with MCDs are presented and emphasised. (2) Based on the analysis of the academic literature, an accurate solution for remote prioritisation in a large scale of patients with MCDs was not presented. (3) There is an essential need to produce a new multiple-criteria decisionmaking theory to address the current problems in the prioritisation of patients with MCDs.

The decision regarding the location of commercial premises is one of strategic nature, as the different alternatives that may be available must be studied according to multiple factors, that way, it can be considered a complex Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) process. This document is intended to propose a methodology for the selection of location of commercial premises that integrates the fuzzy analytical hierarchy process or fuzzy AHP, which is used to weight the selection criteria under the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS), in order to select the best option for the location according to the qualifications that are obtained from all the alternatives. A case study is presented, with the purpose of illustrating the applicability of the methodology that has been proposed, in which five shopping centers are used as location choices, according to four criteria: infrastructure, cost of renting, accessibility to customers, and commercial potential. The weights that were achieved by each criterion were 11.2 %, 21.0 %, 14.3 %, and 53.5 %, respectively. Finally, it not only demonstrates the applicability of the methodology for the case, but also, the scope that it can have in other business sectors, since it is presented as a reliable and effective way to select the best option among a group of alternatives, depending on the different key criteria.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has a tremendous effect on people’s lives worldwide, and the number of infected patients increases daily. The healthcare sector is affected by a large number of patients with COVID-19, and a solution is urgently needed to avert the risk of deteriorating patients in terms of prioritizing patients based on their health conditions. Prioritization of patients with COVID-19 is a complex and multi-criteria decision-analysis (MCDA) problem due to (i) multiple biological laboratory examination criteria, (ii) criteria importance and (iii) trade-off amongst the criteria. This study presents a new multi-biological laboratory examination framework for prioritizing patients with COVID-19 on the basis of integrated MCDA methods. The experiment was conducted on the basis of three phases. In the first phase, patient datasets containing eight biological laboratory examination criteria for six patients with COVID-19 were derived and discussed. The outcome of this phase was used to propose a decision matrix on the basis of the intersection between “biological laboratory examination criteria” and “COVID-19 patients list”. In the second phase, the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method was utilized to set the subjective weights for the biological laboratory examination criteria by respiratory experts. In the last phase, the VIekriterijumsko KOmpromisno Rangiranje (VIKOR) method was adopted to prioritize patients in the context of individual and group decision making (GDM). Results showed that (1) the integration of AHP–VIKOR method based on individual and GDM contexts was effective for solving prioritization problems for patients with COVID-19, and (2) the prioritization results of patients with COVID-19 showed no variation in the internal and external VIKOR GDM contexts. The proposed multi-biological laboratory examination framework can differentiate between the mild and serious or critical condition of patients with COVID-19 by prioritizing them based on integrated AHP–VIKOR methods. In conclusion, medical sectors can use the proposed framework to differentiate the health conditions of infected patients and to assign appropriate care with prompt and effective treatment.
