Technetium complexes with ligands of pharmacological interest

Abstract: The synthesis and scintigraphic studies in rats of 99mTc-amino acid complexes containing the Tc=N multiple bond are reported. Chromatographic analysis shows the formation of a multicomponent system affected by tertiary phosphines employed as reducing agents of pertechnetate-99m in the synthesis of the complexes with cysteine (CYS) and cysteine ethyl ester (CYS-OEt), while no influence of them is observed in 99mTc-complexes having cysteamine (CSA) as ligand. Electrophoresis stresses a strong anionic character i… Show more

“…The lipophilic complex of Technetium i.e., [ 99m TcO (L)] (where L=3,6,6,9-tetramethyl-4,8-diazaundecane-2,10-dione dioximate) is used as a cerebral blood flow imaging agent [17]. The radiopharmaceuticals currently being used for brain perfusion studies are the 99m Tc complexes of the tetradentate ligands hexamethyl propylene amineoxime (HMPAO) [18] and ethyl cysteinate dimmer (ECD) [19].…”
