The concept of Adaptive Knowledge Management is an approach essentially increasing the effectiveness of project participants in their processes that are unpredictable or initialized in advance by unknown events. The research deals with developing the strategy of proactive formation of project team competencies within an industrial enterprise. The most important component of this strategy is the formation of “knowledge coordinators” who are responsible for knowledge management and the creation of training and knowledge sharing regulations. On the basis of this strategy the method of determining the adaptation potential of team members is developed, which is based on the assessment of project task implementation of different complexity, taking into account the identifiers of continuous knowledge growth, which allows predicting the possibilities of increasing the competence level and determining the sustainability of project team members’ knowledge. This method can be used to form a project team considering the accumulated experience and knowledge of its participants.

Project Management Processes (PMPs) are essential to avoid project failures due to the complexity and nature of projects in the software industry, particularly in emerging economies. The software industry is growing rapidly in Pakistan with an increasing number of local, regional and international clients. The project managers who are familiar with PMPs are therefore needed for the proper implementation of these processes, which will lead to sustainable and successful software projects. However, very limited studies have analyzed the expectations and perceptions of the project managers of these PMPs. In order to fill this gap, therefore, this study examined the role of PMPs in the sustainable development and success of software projects by documenting the expectations and perceptions of managers. A structured questionnaire is designed to collect data from 143 participants working in software houses. SPSS is used for the processing and analysis of data using selected statistical tools. The results show a clear difference in expectations and perceptions for PMPs, which means that project managers are of a less rational, sentimental and emotional nature. The findings of this study also show that the male segment is dominant in the software industry which may be due to of Pakistan’s specific social and cultural environment. There is however no significant difference between expectations and perceptions of both male and female project managers for PMPs. The findings of this study will help researchers, practitioners, academics and other stakeholders in the software industry.

The development of software includes multiple stakeholders since it is a multidisciplinary collaboration. Processes in software development demonstrate many problems relating to multidisciplinary collaboration. Communication has been recognized as an important factor for success in software development projects because previous researches on stakeholder analysis and collaboration has demonstrated the importance of communication. Hence, this study investigated and analyzed communication between stakeholders in collaborative software development projects with references to team activities as a social and intellectual practice. The objective of the study was to define factors that would influence and recognize the process of collaboration during software development. The study focused on communication between the software developers (Students) and project managers (lecturers) during the software requirements phase, interdisciplinary collaboration, team process, and inter-team, particularly between software engineers and technical communicators. First, a survey questionnaire was developed to gather data and analyze the effects and sources of communication among the involved stakeholders in software development projects. An experimental analysis was also performed to further test the supporting impact of client documents on requirements gathering. An experimental study was conducted to further test the supporting effect on requirement gathering of client documents. The results revealed that project managers are vital to software development progress, because they are the one that will provide the team with documents that support requirements gathering, thus improving team productivity and efficiency. Finally, software teams ensured that participants from all professional backgrounds were actively involved in the projects with a relatively centralized team structure.
