Teaching wave concepts using traditional musical instruments and free software to prepare prospective skillful millennial physics teachers

Abstract: This study aims to show the basic concepts of wave through traditional musical instruments integrated with computer-based software and smartphones, as well as to find out the profile and improvement of students’ science process skills. The design of inquiry-oriented learning activities is guided by science process skill worksheets that involve the exploration of traditional musical instruments and software. Traditional musical instruments used are stringed instruments (Gambo Mbojo), wind instruments (Sundanese… Show more

“…The route planning process involves obtaining information about the working environment through sensors and reliably determining the best transition path from the starting position to the target position in the working environment based on defined evaluation criteria (e.g., minimum energy consumption, shortest path, and shortest working time) [ 12 ]. The path planning equation is as follows.…”

“…As in the research of Saputra et al (2021), a virtual lab taught using a guided inquiry model can improve science process skills in junior high school students. Science process skills of junior and senior high school students can be improved by using guided inquiry models in learning Science and physics (Setiawan et al, 2016;Yuniastuti, 2016;Iswatun et al, 2017;Wegasanti & Maulida, 2017;Nuryadin & Delinda, 2018;Dijaya et al, 2018;Rafiah et al, 2018;Khairuna & Panggabean, 2019;Putri et al, 2019;Hasan et al, 2020;Jehadan et al, 2020;Saidaturrahmi et al, 2020;Suwardani et al, 2021;Anwar et al, 2020). This is also supported by research developed by Irmi et al (2019), with the inquiry learning model assisted by QR codes that can improve science process skills and student learning outcomes.…”

“…Integrating traditional musical instruments into the physics classroom can create a learning environment that resonates with students' everyday experiences, thus rendering the learning process more meaningful. [17], [18]. Previous studies also found that traditional musical instruments were utilized to illustrate sound concepts to students [12], [19], [20].…”
