Teaching on Pascal's Law: The use of experimental videos of hydraulic concepts from everyday products in the learning process for students with special needs and vocational school students

Abstract: This study aims to determine the use of experimental videos of hydraulic concepts (Pascal's law) of everyday products in the learning process for 10 students with special needs and 10 vocational school students. We used both quantitative and qualitative methods. Experimental videos were used in the learning process for supporting demonstration activities of hydraulic concepts using tools and materials from everyday products. Pretest and posttest were carried out to determine the level of understanding of stude… Show more

“…The process of making ionic liquids and their applications can be presented interestingly so that students focus more on understanding and implementing the manufacturing process in vocational training. This is following the research of Maryanti, Hufad, Tukimin, Nandiyanto, & Manullang (2020) and Widodo, Hufad, & Nandiyanto (2020) which explains that the experimental demonstration method can increase student focus on learning. In addition, an experimental demonstration was carried out using commercially available materials so that it made students more attracted because made students want to try it themselves.…”

“…The experimental process is recorded in the form of a video that is equipped with experiment-related scientific theories (Nandiyanto, Raziqi, Dallyono, & Sumardi, 2020). Previous research has shown that this method can improve students' understanding of learning (Maryanti, Hufad, Tukimin, Nandiyanto, & Manullang, 2020). In addition, the use of videos can stimulate students' curiosity and interest in learning (Maryanti, Nandiyanto, Manullang, Hufad, & Sunardi, 2020).…”

“…Relevant research on the use of experimental demonstration models for teaching media was shown by several previous researchers. Maryanti, Hufad, Tukimin, Nandiyanto, & Manullang (2020) explained the combination of experimental demonstration and media was extremely effective in improving the understanding of students with special needs in learning viscosity. Rusyani, Maryanti, Muktiarni, & Nandiyanto (2021) explained that although deaf students optimize their sense of sight in the learning process only and have difficulty understanding complex and abstract information, the experimental demonstration method shows that the method is effective because it successfully increases students' understanding.…”

“…The concept of density is so important to chemistry that most introductory university chemistry textbooks discuss it in the first chapter so the concept can be utilized throughout the US chemistry curriculum from general chemistry through upper-level courses such as inorganic chemistry and physical chemistry . Viscosity is usually introduced later in the US general chemistry curriculum, often during the intermolecular force section, but the concept is also utilized over multiple chemistry courses. , …”
