Teaching Mode of Mechanical Design Course based on Simulation Analysis Technology

Abstract: Mechanical design course covers various contents, and most of them are complex theoretical knowledge. However, current teaching modes in China mainly combine textbook with PPT (PowerPoint) created in advance. This monotonous mode cause students to lose interests in their curriculum, and knowledge becomes difficult to gain. To improve teaching effectiveness, we propose a novel teaching mode by applying simulation technology to a particular mechanical design course. Using the chapter of gear transmission as an e… Show more

“…Li, X et al combined textbook and simulation technology by practicing in a gear rotation course. This approach enriches the teaching model of mechanical courses, makes knowledge acquisition easier, helps students analyze and solve problems with relevant knowledge, and improves their practical skills [15]. During the experiments, students can easily learn about power testing and the structure of storage device components in the operation of medium voltage distribution systems.…”

“…Beyond system dynamic modeling there is a growing call for an early adoption of modeling and simulation in undergraduate engineering education with the goal of balancing theory, simulation, and project-based content [29]. Li et al [30] describe a simulation-based teaching mode for a mechanical engineering design. A broader application of simulation technology for training undergraduate mechanical engineers is detailed in [31].…”

“…Reference [ 24 ] proposed an algorithm to combine multiple subclusters based on connectivity, with the goal of improving the quality and accuracy of clustering results by focusing on the local optimality of the K-means algorithm and the sensitivity to the initial cluster centroid. Reference [ 25 ] proposes an algorithm for determining the number of clusters in a data set based on object stability. Reference [ 26 ] examines 11 widely used clustering validity evaluation indexes in depth, assessing their performance as well as the limitations of application scenarios in five aspects of the clustering algorithm.…”
