“…If a teacher feels, on a daily basis, that the institution does not care about the well-being of its professionals, and does not appreciate their contributions, there is greater probability for the occurrence of the syndrome. The literature supports this explanation -lack of approval and support by supervisor, lack of proper retribution, as well as mutual distrust (Anomneze et al, 2016;Neves et al, 2014) contribute to the occurrence of BS.…”

“…The relation between BS and POS presented a moderate level of correlation for all dimensions of BS. Anomneze, Ugwu, D. I., Enwereuzor and Ugwu, L. I. (2016) also found relation between POS and BS when surveying high school teachers but they employed measuring scales of a type different from the ones applied here.…”

“…Despite the fact that all these previous studies including others (e.g. (Anomneze, Ugwu, Enweruzor, & Ugwu, 2016;Okonkwo, 2013;Okonkwo, 2014;Okonkwo, Onuibe, Okoro, & Madu, 2015)) focused on burnout in Nigerian samples, there have, ironically, been no studies of these concerns in Nigerian context considering the moderating role of self-efficacy in role-based stress and burnout. This research gap is particularly problematic and calls for research involving African population, hence this present study in non-Western context of Nigeria testing the following hypotheses.…”

“…Others believe that they are committed to organizational goals but that at times it is the organizations that do not show commitment to the plight of the workers (Alarape & Akinlabi, 2000). Interestingly, these studies (e.g , (Ebeh, Uhiara, Agbor, & Nwankwo, 2015; Obi-Nwosu et al, 2013)) which were carried out in Nigeria including (Anomneze, Ugwu, Enwereuzor, & Ugwu, 2016) which focused on teachers, failed to establish the moderating role of emotional labour in job characteristics as predictors of organizational commitment. This research gap is particularly problematic and calls for research involving African population, hence this present study in non-Western context of Nigeria testing the following hypotheses:…”
